<p>Day 4 of the 60 Day Insanity Challenge was a butt kicker&#8230; After the warm up Shawn T broke myself and the rest of the Get Fit crew in true fashion! Twenty minutes of a non-stop cardio blast of work outs! All of the work outs that Shawn T instructs focus on keeping your correct form and tightening your core!</p>

<p>In anatomy, the core refers, in its most general of definitions, to the body minus the legs and arms. A lack of core development can result in a predisposition to injury.  Major muscles included are the pelvic floor muscles, transversus abdominis, multifidus, internal and external obliques, rectus abdominis, erector spinae (sacrospinalis) especially the longissimus thoracis, and thediaphragm. Minor core muscles include the latissimus dorsi, gluteus maximus, and trapezius.</p>
<p>Looking forward to really getting my core shredded with the Insanity challenge! Any good ideas for core work outs?</p>

<p><strong><a href="http://www.getfittodoshit.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/food.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-335" title="food" src="http://www.getfittodoshit.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/food-300x195.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="195" /></a></strong></p>
<p><strong>Ingredients:</strong><br />
1 tablespoon ghee<br />
1 cup small dice yellow onion<br />
1 large garlic clove, minced<br />
1 Serrano chili, stemmed, seeded and minced<br />
1 cup canned, chopped tomatoes<br />
2 tablespoons curry powder<br />
¼ teaspoon ground turmeric<br />
1/8 teaspoon cayenne, or to taste<br />
1 ½ teaspoons salt, plus more for seasoning<br />
1 pound firm tofu, cut into triangles, ¼ -inch thick<br />
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk<br />
1 teaspoon lemon juice<br />
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro, plus more for garnish<br />
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper</p>
<p><strong>Method:</strong><br />
Heat the ghee in medium saucepot over medium-high heat. When the ghee is melted, add the onion and cook until tender and lightly caramelized, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Add the garlic and Serrano chili and cook until fragrant, stirring, about 20 seconds. Add the tomatoes and spices and 1 teaspoon of the salt, stir to mix well, and simmer until it is slightly reduced, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the tofu and coconut milk and simmer until slightly thickened, for another 5 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice, cilantro, ½ teaspoon salt and the black pepper. Garnish with cilantro and serve immediately.</p>
<p>Yield: 4 appetizer servings</p>

<p>Day 2&#8230; Oh man! The &#8220;Insanity&#8221; DVD series doesn&#8217;t get any easier, I&#8217;ll tell you that! Whew! Power Cardio Resistance was a lot of compact jumps, push ups, squats and sweating&#8230;.. Pouring Sweat!!! I haven&#8217;t sweat that much in a very long time! Uma decided to skip the work out today and turn off his phone! FAIL! Day 2 and we already have quitters!!!!! Hate it! Anyways&#8230;. Karl, Elliott, Emily and I are stoked to be on this path of fitness together! Oh Yeah Molly McNeil is a Day 2 completer as well! But I don&#8217;t know if her schedule will allow her to continue to attend the sessions every morning! Insanity is Insane!!! If you have been thingking about trying it, Just do it you won&#8217;t be disappointed! Tired and sore, but not disappointed!!</p>

The 60 Day &#8220;Insanity&#8221; Challenge! Karl, Elliott, and myself, Bryan also known as Hanz, Sven, and Franz started the 60 day challenge today with the intentions of building upon our already strong base of P90X (The 90 challenge) with one goal in mind&#8230;.. Get Fit To Do Shit!!! The three of us have been living together for almost a year now and have been accelerating our physic in hopes to dominate our summer hobbies and sports further than we have ever done before! We hike, ruck, wakeboard, camp, bike run and much more during the summer and are all tired of being exhausted at the end of these events! We want to be able to enjoy all these thing more by being shape! Making all these activities more enjoyable than a chore! The morning started with the alarm blaring 5:45 am and door bells followed at 5:50 am. Uma Smyth a good friend of the Get Fit Crew has committed to embark on the 60 challenge with us! Just before 6:00 am Elliott and Karl came down to get &#8220;the party&#8221; started! Also Karl&#8217;s girlfriend Emily Blackburn has committed to the challenge as well&#8230;. She had a surprise visitor join as well, Molly McNeil aka Long Daddy! So from our Original Get Fit Crew of three we have doubled our size and strength to 6! Our 60 day challenge began with the Plyometric Cardio Circuit!!! The warm up was even tough with 40 minutes on the clock and counting down we started this sweat drenched work out! This 60 day challenge is looking like it is going to be worth the effort! Follow along for daily updates and results!!!!</p>

Oh wait it is! We are beginning a new challenge this one is more about our personal gains and transformations than a goal of an allotted time frame.  Now this doesn&#8217;t mean we don&#8217;t have an over arching purpose, because we have some pretty big things we want to accomplish by the end of summer&#8230;. Like lots of local 5k&#8217;s, Sprint Triathlon&#8217;s, Half Triathlon&#8217;s, and Half Iron Man&#8217;s and we have a few others but those we will talk about later.  Also I will be revamping the site soon and adding a new schedule and nutrition facts and ideas into the mix! SO welcome back to Getting fit to do fun shit in the Northwest!!!! Have a great Monday!</p>

</a>The other day I got a haircut at the local University Ave barber by a dude named Blue Bear. Seriously. Although it was an interesting experience in a few different ways, none the less, it inspired us to harness our inner power animals and use them to step it up for our final weeks of the 90 day challenge. The majestic black Orca is a powerful, sleek, mammal that loves to eat. Only seemed fitting. With <a href="http://www.getfittodoshit.com/2010/04/02/the-end-of-mustache-march-hello-april/">Franz</a> as the yellow cat and Sven as the blue bird, our house is starting to sound like a zoo (Naturally we needed to release these creatures through animalesque war cries) EEEEEEEEEEEE,  TSSSSSSSSSSS!</p>
<p>We continue to see improvements on a daily basis. Back and legs today with a little ab ripper to finish it off. Boom! Done. With only 8 days left, we are truly on the home stretch. For now. As the next adventure is still a little undecided a lot of ideas are being tossed around. If any of you reading this have a recommendation on where to pick up some mountain bikes for cheap, it would be much appreciated. Hope to see you all at the party on the 17th!</p>

<p>With the freshly shaved upper lips and March behind us we are finishing our week up with the Legs and Back routine! Welcome to April!!!  The eleventh is just around the corner  and while we were waiting for our pre work out drink to kick in we were discussing what our next move was going to be! We will all be spreading to the four winds at the end of April, so it will be difficult to keep the routine as a group going! My idea is to make a hybrid of P90X and Cardio exercises.  A little mix of my favorite P90 videos and running three days a week!! The goal is to go and participate in some of the areas 5,10, maybe even 15K runs! I am not really much of an avid runner but I think it would be incredibly beneficial to the reduction of the remaining belly fat I have! Like I said I am not going to have a 6 pack at the end of the initial 90 days but will be motivated to achieve more of one by the end of summer! Also we will be having a large celebration coming up on the 17th of April for all who wish to attend! Have a great weekend everyone!</p>

Just for your peace of mind we have not been taking days off of working out or slipping back into the ways of toxin use! We are still waking up every morning sober as a priest and working out! It has been awesome&#8230;. And today was no exception! Some of the conversations that the three of us have over the period of the work out is nothing less than breath taking, literally.  I think at one point this morning we had to stop the work out momentarily to catch our breath from laughter! But we kept hopping away and knocked out one of our last plyo routines! It&#8217;s Tuesday people, get pumped!</p>

Rainier is out in all her glory this morning! It&#8217;s days like today that make living in Washington worth all those rainy, crappy days! Today&#8217;s work out seemed to go by fairly quickly yet painfully! Legs and back seems to be the new work out that really gets the sweat pouring!! Don&#8217;t get me wrong I love getting my sweat on, but man, it really gets me going! We are at 21 work outs remaining until the finish line and it&#8217;s almost hard to believe that we will have completed it and I can honestly say I hadn&#8217;t missed one work out for 90 days straight! No excuses, No Sick Days, No Nothing just working out! Some people might be expecting big numbers or a six pack of abs when their done with this&#8230;. and if they achieve that, then I am proud of them but I don&#8217;t really think that will be the case for me! I am definitely making huge improvements and my self confidence and self acceptance is through the roof! 90 Days is totally enough time to do a total revamp of what you got going on but it doesn&#8217;t mean you are going to be in model shape at the end! One step at a time! It&#8217;s Friday people and it is gorgeous outside! Enjoy!!!</p>
